Alaskan style mills are great for slabbing wood, but they can be used to cut square edges timber. Though it can be quite time consuming.
Take your first cut fairly deep,
then turn log 90 degrees,
take another first cut.
Again turn the log 90 degrees.
take another first cut.
Roll back 90 degrees.
By now you should have a cant with one waney edge on the bottom and 3 flat slides.
Now cut thick slices,
Once cut, stack the slabs vertically and either screw or clamp the lower parts together.
Finally cut your finished sizes.
